WEST BRANCH H.S.: 20
Dudurich carries Vikings to big win by Tyler Kolesar
ALLPORT — The Glendale Vikings used a well-balanced running attack to take down the West Branch Warriors by a 44-20 final Friday night at L.T. Drival Memorial Field. Viking running backs Seth Dudurich and Cory Johnston both had two touchdowns.
Play of the game: Glendale partially blocked a punt that went right into the hands of Garret Misiura for an easy touchdown less than a minute into the second quarter for a 14-0 lead.
Player of the game: Vikings running back Seth Dudurich ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.
Unsung hero: Baine Seilhamer had all three receptions for the Vikings on the night for 36 yards — including a touchdown — and also had the lone interception of the game off of Warriors quarterback Ayden Gutierrez.
Most vital statistic: Even though the Vikings had 12 penalties for 95 yards, they did not have a single turnover on the night.
Glendale coach Spank Trexler: “I’m just proud of the effort. They’re just committed to getting better and the effort is there. They’ve been down before and they’re resilient. We try not to pay attention to the score as much because it is what it is. But we want to win and we look for that effort. It’s there.”
West Branch coach Kevin Hubler: “It goes back to what I’ve been saying all year. We’re making too many mistakes. We’re not tackling on defense. We’re not aggressive and we’re making mistakes after mistakes on offense.”
Notable: West Branch had two bad snaps on punts — one that ended up being a Vikings touchdown and the other ending up being a safety … Gutierrez threw for 176 yards with one touchdown and one interception … Glendale running back Tristin Rutter also picked up 43 yards on eight carries.
Records: Glendale (3-1), West Branch (0-4)
Next week: Glendale hosts Claysburg-Kimmel. West Branch hosts Mount Union.
